Among Worlds is accepting submissions of original, high-quality articles, stories, poetry, photography, visual art, and book/film reviews. Submissions should directly relate to the third culture kid (TCK) experience.
Stories/Articles/Reviews/Poetry: Use our Google form. Generally, prose submissions are 600–900 words, but longer pieces will be considered. Additional details can be found on the form.
Artwork/Photos: Send a low quality sample in the body of your email to our editor. (We will not open attachments or links.) Please provide a brief artist’s statement about the work or a caption (for photos).
At this time, we are unable to pay for accepted submissions. Among Worlds acquires the non-exclusive, worldwide English language rights to publish, distribute, reproduce, and use submitted material in any form. Each contributor retains ownership of the copyright to their submission and all rights not expressly granted in the contract. Among Worlds reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity and space. We ask that contributors not republish their piece in any other format or venue for at least 60 days following publication and that AW be credited as having first published the piece.
Current Theme:
May/June 2025- Airports: Airports seem to be a physical place that describes our lives so well. The transition of arrivals and departures. It is also where luggage gets lost, parents make us sprint to the gate, and sometimes we lose our parents. Whatever comes to mind when you think of airports is what we are looking for. Deadline: April 16, 2025.

July/August 2025- Open Theme: Our second Open Theme of the year. That means we are taking submissions on anything related to TCKs/MKs/CCKs. Deadline: June 16, 2025. This is our last one, but we will always take Open Themes to fill in if needed.
September/October 2025 – Homesickness: Home. A word that is confusing and conflicting for the TCK. So what is it that you miss when you find that you are homesick? Is it a place, a person, a season? Explore the ways the life of a TCK makes the experience of being homesick unique. Deadline: August 16, 2025
November/December 2025 – Sacrifice: Sacrifice and loss have defined a large part of the TCK experience. From the places and people that you’ve had to give up and the art of letting go that you’ve had to learn, what are the sacrifices you’ve had to make? How have these sacrifices been woven into your story? Deadline: October 16, 2025
