Everything I've ever known
has come from little women:
Wrapped in red envelopes,
Wrapping their rice wrappers,
Tales to tell, tales they listen,
Tail-end, no end to their pride in me,
Style in their curls and bobs and ponytails,
Styling childhoods of Christmas morns and Sunday dinners,
Line by line, true to their savior,
Lining heart-prayers in every crevice and cranny,
Torn is my flesh, she brands a bandaid,
Tears pour as the plane pushes off.
In my life love has flowed out of everything.
The bagpipes are playing,
The organ is drumming,
The aisle is calling,
But I am not afraid because...
Every bit of love I've known,
I learned from little women.
